It appears I placed #3 on the list of Wildest Statements Made by Industry Veterans, according to IGN. That means I share space with the likes of Hiroshi Yamauchi, Ken Kutaragi, and Trip Hawkins!

I woulda thought what I said was at least good for #2, though. I have to admit, though, competition is fierce; Trip beat me out for saying that polygons had no future. At least the single-player games issue isn’t actually settled yet. 🙂

On Trust, part 3.5: Balkanization

Earlier I mentioned the ways in which countries are chopping the Internet apart, creating national walled gardens where the perceptions of reality are literally different, thanks to the filtering of information.

I also referenced the increasingly migratory nature of today’s online gamer, moving entire guilds from game to game, often finding new niche titles to occupy their time.

I see both of these as forms of Balkanization, driven by the same imperatives related to trust.

Deflexion

My copy of Deflexion arrived yerterday, and I managed one game with my daughter before we left for Fry’s to replace a dead case fan in my machine that was causing overheating issues.

So, computer is now fixed, which means I can post about the boardgame. 🙂
