Google moves into virtual worlds, which pretty much everybody I know in the Bay Area has been talking about for weeks now… and
this article about the PCD Music Lounge, which is notable because it’s a custom virtual world designed for a band as a promotional tool.
Here’s a fantastic resource: Martin Rytter’s History Database of videogame events, which uses the timeline and lots more as a source, searchable, filterable and even exportable! Apparently it’s part of his thesis work on MMOGs.
I just got done cleaning and repairing my grandfather’s Harmony ukulele from the 1950s. Many of my fondest memories of my Koster grandparents involve sitting in song circles.
I inherited it when he died some years ago, and messed with it a little bit back then, but it’s been sitting gathering dust for the last few years. The nut had broken off and taken a bit of wood with it, and the fretboard needed a good cleaning.
Since I am in a bit of a vintage instrument mood (also getting my father-in-law’s banjo fixed, and am mostly finished cleaning up his Melody Maker), I thought I might as well use all these supplies I got on the uke as well. This is a baritone uke, so it’s tuned basically like a guitar. It also has a gorgeous sound for a ukulele — not what you would expect. I think it’s mahogany. So of course, I had to write something on it!

I don’t really have any poems specifically for or about mothers, which is rather odd, come to think of it. But I do have this one, which is about parenting and marriage and of course, a puppy.

The discussion with Prokofy Neva in the comment thread here has gotten interesting, I think, for those who aren’t watching it already.
I am not at E3 today. I was there yesterday. I only spent 2 hours on the show floor, alas, the rest was in meetings. This means I didn’t really get to see any games.
