Thanks, Raph Koster for showing me a different “WoW”.
Yikes! Folks were talking about chicken and egg a few weeks back, and I’ve always wondered how it applies to porn.
Are the porn makers pushing the envelope and doing the inventing? Viz: “Hmm. People go to Mardi Gras to see breasts…. I know! We’ll have a website and call it “gimmebeads.com”!!”
Or is it the porn users that constantly want to mix other habits with the porn addiction? Were people googling “WoW porn” and someone trolling search terms suddenly thought “Hey! That’s a great idea!”
I suspect people were googling WoW porn the day Blizzard first announced the game.
A quick run at the Google AdWords traffic estimator would seem to indicate that they weren’t, “WoW porn” itself gives almost no estimated clicks (1-2 a day), and all the other suggested alternate keywords say “Not enough data to give estimates”.
This is more likely a trial balloon by some enterprising porn producer/MMO player, seeing how much free publicity they can get from just putting up the front site.

“porn producer/MMO player” seems like quite an interesting lifestyle.
It’s funny reading this on a gaming blog…wondering “Will this work?”
Because probably, the porn production blogs are asking the same thing. Games and porn are not so differnt.

They’ll probably get into some legal trouble with Blizzard for using the term “Warcraft” and the obvious attempt at using World of Warcraft to profit themselves.
[…] lol I saw it over on RaphKoster’s blog, thought it was comical. […]
Save time see the girl now

Not work safe. Too bad the ears would come off…..damn did I say that out loud????
Damn, I wanted to make a porn site like that. All the basement nerds will love it.

Inevitible in any form of media that comes to the net. It’s always going to happen — someone will get the nerve and try. Take an internet full of lonely men, add in a fantasy (attractive naked women), and mix in another fantasy (pick a hobby) and you create the visage of the ‘perfect woman’ which is very marketable to those willing so suspend enough disbelief to think tha the women actaully buy into their end of the fantasy.
No different than the whole ‘hot chicks on cars’ magazines that have been on the news stands for decades catering to the delusions of car freaks. When I see things like this I always have two thoughts “Why didn’t I think of this first?” and “I’m surprised it took this long to happen.”
A couple of guildies a while back put a link to some “real” WoW porn: someone had reskinned some of the female toons to look naked, and the guildies just had to let us all know about it. But that was several months ago, which officially makes this an old story by now.
