And it’s going to be in Singapore! Well, that lowers the chances I’ll attend, I suppose! I haven’t made it to the last two because work pressures kept me away, but this year I was looking forward to it. Here’s the announcement for State of Play IV Asia, whose topic is “building the global metaverse.” Looks like Neal Stephenson will be a speaker.

Fortunately, there is the New York version in October.

  1. Raph should you be down in the Hucksters room spending too much on old papaerbacks, or a Original Silent Running Movie poster ? 🙂

  2. Or is it too early for World Con yet ?

  3. It starts tomorrow, and I won’t get there until late afternoon or evening. 🙂

  4. Wait, there IS the New York version in October? Thank God. Singapore was just too far away. But don’t see the sign-up page for October?

  5. There’s a New York version in October, but… what the heck? There isn’t even an announcement that I can find for it. And it’s only a month and a half away!

The themes are completely different. How can you have the same speakers and program? If you don’t… where’s the New York version!? *frazzled and confused*

  6. I took a closer look… it says “Law, Education, and Virtual Worlds Workshop“. To me, this implies that it’s not really a conference…

  7. Hi — Noticed the discussion about the October version of SoP. I’m not involved in organizing it, but my understanding is that it is a small workshop related to the use of virtual worlds as learning environments in a legal context. The full-blown SoP will be held in Singapore in January. We realize that the current SoP site is confusing on this issue, and will make sure to clarify first thing tomorrow.

  8. I don’t suppose there is any way for a Singaporean reader of this site to change your mind is there? Would like to see you come down and talk. =)

  9. Yes, Raph. I agree with dagger. We would love to see you come down and talk at the conference. Do you think you will be able to join us?
