Massive Magazine is apparently out, though I have yet to actually see a copy. I have an article in it, and I don’t remember what I wrote (since I wrote it months ago!).

  2. It’s interesting that your post prompted me to check my email, and yes, a digital copy was waiting in my inbox. So, thanks. 🙂

I have to say, they have done an absolutely spectacular job. Gorgeous layout and articles by Richard Bartle, Richard Garriot, yourself, Brad McQuaid, Brett Todd, Nick Yee, and Rob Pardo? All in one place. It’s beautiful. 🙂

To remind you, you wrote that the genre (if it is one, yet) is in a transition phase. Before the dust clears, you cannot write about what you want to write about because no one’s ready for “that type” of discussion. I found the passage where you likened MMORPG activities to their digital constituents in reducere quite amusing. 🙂

Your wistful discusssion about future games could be a bit more exciting than virtual commitee chairs or taxation clauses. 🙂 I realise that you were both casting for humour and emphasizing how far we need to go. But I still had a panic attack. 🙂

    Cheers,

Yeah, but then there’s the problem of follow-up. Getting people interested in the first issue is only a small part of the battle. Keeping them interested (and getting new subscriptions) by the third, fourth, tenth issue is also an important consideration. There have been a few other magazines that tried to cover this space that fizzled and died after only a few issues.

We’ll see if the audience will support it.

  4. True, that’s a pretty hard act to follow for a MMO magazine.

I still definitely enjoyed it, though.
