Three Rings gets new offices

From the new design of the Three Rings offices I conclude the following:
- They have more money than Areae does — we’re on IKEA tables. 😉
- Most MMOs look sadly impoverished on the imagination front compared to the average artist’s desk there
- They better have extreme artist loyalty if each artist gets a custom desk…!
- I need to persuade Daniel to let me come visit. 🙂

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
in which they mention using Blender, the open source 3D modeler, for some of their work (not a lot, but some). In particular, I was unaware that a sculpting plug-in ala ZBrush was in the works for Blender. Good to know. via Raph Koster’s blog {Image Copyright © Because We Can, LLC }
Very “jewels vern” ish, i like.
Hey, don’t look over your shoulder at the other guys, Raph, just make the game : )
You should define your corporate culture before it’s too late! Go buy some grade-A plywood (or grade-B if you’re strapped for cash), a router, and some paint/sealer, and start modifying your stock Ikea furniture. When new students started in Frank Lloyd Wright’s school, Taliesen West, their first assignment was to build a tent that they would live in (for a short while). You should do the same (desk-wise) for new employees. 🙂
I just inhereted a Galah a few months back, so my desk (decrated by the parrot) is littered with shredded paper, and leaves from banches I provide it for entertainment. It likes stealing and decimating my pens too… and my computer-game boxes… and anything else it can get ahold of.
Nice link. Thanks. Comes at a good time for me.
HOly, just wow…thats some cool office space….
I could post something about unrealistic expendatures, ongoing and fixed costs and incurring un-necessary expenses but I’m not gonna…
because I’m REALLY jealous those are cool desks, not the best desk ever but damn close…
Aha! I missed this over the hols.
I am sitting at an IKEA table right now, Raph. Most of us are still on those, and have been for many years (tho’ we have always splurged on good chairs, and I suggest you do the same, you’re going to be sat on ’em a lot).
The budget for the Nautilus (as we fondly refer to the back room) is not that gigantic at all, and certainly immaterial in the scheme of a 30+ person company.
As for artist retention, well yes, none of ’em have run away screaming, yet!
We splurged on good chairs too. Also on a comfy couch and chair for the loungey area. And nice monitors too. Frankly, the most expensive part of all this thus far as been legal bills. 😉 I think we’re past the worst of that now though.
