MUDDev Archive in forum form

Int posted in the comment threads here mentioning that he has imported the entire MUD-Dev archive into a PHPBB forum. This means that now you can read the discussion in threaded format, sorted by date. This is awesome! Thanks for your contribution to the community, Int! It’s available at http://muddev.wishes.net.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Wow… this is great. Looks like I’ve got something to do for the next few months. 🙂
Ditto. Thanks, Int.
Anyone notice that most of Raph’s posts are gone? This is all that remains…
I don’t think the import was entirely successful.
There are many posts by many other authors that seem to be partially imported.
I haven’t come across any broken posts myself yet, does anyone have a post/thread id?
The Author keyword search seems to be very incomplete (only returns a couple dozen for my name). But if I do a keyword search, I get plenty of results (returns 678 for my name).
Here’s an example. There are many, many other examples.
The posts that contain only the following content are partially imported:
This seems to be the case because replies to these messages quote whole passages of text that are not displayed.
WOW….that was awesome of him to put this in forum form
Okay the posts with an incomplete body were caused by a slightly too greedy regexp and should be fixed now. I’m out of time for today but I’ll look into the author search tomorrow.
Been using Kressilac as my alias for quite some time here simply out of habit but figured I’d drop it so that others here know who I am if they already do not. Anyway, it was interesting to read some of my own posts again through the author sort. I thought I would find a bunch of “I really said that” posts and didn’t. What was the first reactions many of you had when searching for your own name and reading some of the stuff you posted a few years ago?

This topic on the MUD-Dev Archive happens to be about EQ’s broken economy. It dates back to 2001 and is very very similar to some of the issues being discussed in the WoW community today, SIX years later. It’s sad to see how little gameplay has evolved from an economy standpoint.
