The Sunday Song: Share Some Secrets
(Visited 8029 times)This is one of my favorite tracks off of After the Flood. Stretch Williams laid down some really tasty lead guitar. It’s basically a torch song sort of thing. I don’t recall what key I capoed to, but the song was originally written in Em. It’s basically an Em blues, with a C7/9 substituting in for the A chord most places, and a few other jazzy chords tossed in here and there. Hope you like it.
Share Some Secrets
Well, I, I ain’t got no troubles left to me
Since that last sunlight faded its red away
Everything that we are now is hidden fine
And the skin under my lips is sweetest wine
So let’s share some secrets, uh huh
Let’s share some secrets, oh
While the dark makes us blind
We’ve gotten some hard hard times put away behind
There’s nothing like that ahead, not even a sign
A clock is ticking away the time that is left to us
The moonlight would all be gone if we slept
So let’s share some secrets, uh huh
Let’s share some secrets, oh
While the dark makes us blind
It’s going to be another drowsy old day
Not like the lightning now full of electricity
I can feel the heat in the way you talk
Some firebreathing baby lightening up the dark
Will it be goodbye when the morning comes
Will we pretend that we ain’t done what we done
In the light of day, a whole lotta things look kinda foolish
I might hold your secrets but I’d never prove it
So let’s share some secrets, uh huh
Let’s share some secrets, oh
While the dark makes us blind
In the light of day, a whole lotta things look kinda foolish
Let’s share some secrets while the dark makes us blind

I could tell you if I like this song, but that’s a secret. Shh… 🙂
[…] Posted another old track. Stretch Williams on lead guitar, me on the acoustic. It's a blues, Stray & Sky. https://www.raphkoster.com/2007/05/27/the-sunday-song-share-some-secrets/ […]
