The South Korean government has even dropped the requirement of military service for those willing to work in the game industry, considering digital games key to the international export of Korean culture.

AmericansKoreans with a virtual web-based environment in which they can learn to kill?Beats working on Virtual Michael’s.

South Korea ≠ North Korea. I hope you weren’t implying otherwise.

Ah, I read norwegian kings sagas today. On one of the illustrations you see two leaders toss dice to decide who gets to control a piece of land.
See, we are slowly learning how to do non-violent warfare, just like the Vikings did!
(Most entertaining news-item this month. Thanks!)

I wasn’t aware South Korea didn’t have an army and thus couldn’t possibly use videogames in the same way the U.S. Army uses them, for recruiting and training.
My mistake and sincerest apologies for not knowing that. I’ll notify the folks at Global Security.org so they can correct their site.

Given that the Virginia Tech shooter was South Korean and considering America’s distrust of all things Korea thanks to North Korea, your words seemed to imply that you thought ill of South Koreans. After all, your comments are very similar to Jack Thompson’s cries about "murder simulators". I didn’t notice you were alluding to America’s Army with “Korea’s Army” as that phrase brought to mind the phrase “Allah’s Army” which added to the context described above thus ensuring a negative perception of your choice of words. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
By the way, scroll down on that GlobalSecurity.org page. That symbol ROKs.
No sweat. fwiw, I’ve been to S. Korea. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit and hope to return. I have nothing but respect for them (and many Asian nationalities).
