Sick, Food poisoning, I think.
Many things to post about, such as Whirled, Vivaty, Congressional hearings, a cool art game, and more. When I get the chance…

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Get well, Man. Food poisoning is teh suk.
Ouch, sorry to hear that Raph. Borderline food-poisoning’s the worst! Get well soon.
Been there. Dang near died of it. It does get better but you’ll be sore for a few days.
BTW, the New York Times is carrying articles on the Vivaty announcements. I consider repositioning the product as ‘consumer services for unified communications’ to be a dry but smart move. We are a lot more likely to get a 3D web from organic relationships than big iron. I think other than the applications of standard languages for scaling content markets, we probably agree on a lot of this given your vid. It will be interested to see your take on the rest.
Disclaimer: I am a member of the Web3D Consortium Board of Directors. X3D and VRML are ISO/Web3DC standards.
COME ON NOW, UP AND AT ‘EM, WE HAVE WORLDS TO MAKE SO WE CAN HAVE CORPSES TO LOOTZ.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Missed you at IMGDC.

I agree, Morgan. I was elected and didn’t find out until Alan sent me a meeting notice. They are a small bunch. On the other hand, they have evolved quite a bit since the last time I served on the board. With the virtual world market starting to pancake, their early insistence on paying attention to CAD standards, H-anim, network sensors, and a bottom-up 3D web are paying off. They are the one organization that stuck to its principles and survived as a result.
The web doesn’t resist walled gardens. It is largely ineffective at changing the human preferences for elites and protection as well as the natural tendancy toward hierarchies. What it resists are artificial barriers to their creation and evolution. IOW, it prefers enablers over disablers.
