Noodled this in about 45 minutes this evening, while thinking about the halls at GDC emptying out. Just me and the piano…

  1. Nice. Did you do that on a synth piano and did you quantize?

Did this last week. The song was written in 74 for a friend in college when I was playing solo for a living, so more folky. She appeared on FB recently and brought it up so I made this recording for her.

The bit at the end is an improv I did after recording the main nylon string part for the first bit. I dressed it up for grins. Very basic stuff playing wise but one trick: the string line in the second part is a midi of the wav file lead vocal sucked into Melodyne then dumped out as midi. Neat trick for lines where I want a more natural feel and not the DepressKeyGetSound feel even with a touch sensitive kb. I am enjoying that editor both for cleanup and composition possibilities.

  2. I played it live on my Yamaha P70, the sound is a VST. No quantizing or anything.

  3. Interesting. Good fingering technique. Very even. I wish I could do that on a keyboard.

  4. Nice, Raph! Sounds great.
